Churches Touching Lives for Christ!

Dear Friends of CTLC:

ALERT!  CTLC has a new mailing address:  P.O. Box #5, Temple, TX 76503-005

Growth in any situation requires change.  In all instances it is rather like a 12 year old boy.  He grows taller every day, his feet expand to enormous proportions, his voice begins to crack and he begins to eat as if he will never see food again.  Growth is what CTLC seems to be all about this year.  The following is just a brief summary of new outreach programs that have come to us for backing and a place to call home.

Six students continue in the computer classes.  Lessons are 2 hours long with and hour and a half of practice time after classes.  Students are learning basic skills plus how to search for a job and prepare a resume.  There are students waiting their turn to attend.  Tom Martins is in charge of the effort and doing a wonderful job.

The Stary student and family counseling program is also going well. Parents appreciate the understanding of their kids they gain through this effort and the kids seem to settle down and work with rather than against their parents.

Scott and White has approached us to hold Better Health Workshops in our facility.
These will work will with our existing programs and provide information and assistance needed by our clients.

The change in our food distribution program (to allow clients access to food and clothing on a monthly basis) is proving to be a great success.  The largest number of folks comes the first two Saturdays of the month (100-139 families each).  The last two or three Saturdays and Tuesdays accommodate 70-85 families each.  In March 721 clients representing 2387 individuals requested service.  We received 700 requests for food; 478 for clothing; 285 for bedding and towels; 634 units of toiletries; and 85 sets of diapers/pull-ups.  Eleven received assistance with their utility bills.

Our volunteers prayed with 768 individuals in March.  They distributed 101 Bibles; and directed many to area churches.  Eight individuals received formal counseling services.

Come in on Wednesday mornings at 9:30.  Take the orientation class and learn where you would feel most comfortable volunteering.  Our volunteers will be honored with dinner and entertainment on May 17 at 6:00 p.m. at Heights Baptist Church.  I hope to see you there.

“Always speak the truth and you’ll never be concerned about your memory.”

God Bless Each of You,
Carol Johnson, Dir. Communications
